Le Château de Saint-Etienne est un manoir très beau et très spacieux construit sur les ruines d’un ancien château possédé par les Anglais.Sa construction initiale remonte au XIIIème siècle et le château fut reconstruit ensuite en deux étapes au XVIIème et XVIIIème siècle.
Le château fut un des bâtiment principaux de l’ancien village Saint-Étienne-de-Ciernat, qui a fusionné avec Saint-Étienne-du-Bas pour devenir Saint-Gérand-le-Puy en 1832.
Ces dernières années, le château a été rénové pour créer un endroit confortable, plein de style pour vivre, travailler et bien entendu pour être visité.

A Continental or Scandinavian breakfast will be served in the garden, weather permitting, or in the dining room of the château.
The products are regional; bread, eggs, cheeses and hams come from local producers and the home-made jam comes from our own rich garden.
Un petit-déjeuner continental vous sera servi au jardin, si le temps le permet, ou dans la salle à manger du château.
Les produits sont régionaux; le pain, les œufs, les fromages et les jambons proviennent de producteurs locaux et la confiture faite maison de notre propre jardin.
Een Frans ontbijt wordt u geserveerd in de tuin of in de salon van het kasteel.
Hierbij maken we zoveel mogelijk gebruik van regionale producten: brood, eieren, kazen en ham worden betrokken van lokale producenten.
De jams worden gemaakt van vruchten uit onze eigen rijke moestuin.
Håvard Valvatne
Dr. H Valvatne is responsible for the daily management of the bed and breakfast.
Originally from Norway, he holds a PhD in genetics and microbiology. He has worked as a scientist for several years in university institutions in Norway, Denmark and The Netherlands. He also has several years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in The Netherlands and France.
He is now following his dream of creating an own company which combines his main interests: French wines, ecological food, Scandinavian-Dutch-French design/architecture, country life, animals, wellness and aesthetic-medicine.
Håvard also has a passion for cooking. Scandinavian, French and Italian foods are his favorites to prepare.
Explore the Bourbonnais
Saint-Gérand-le-Puy is close to Vichy (20 km), a French city well know for wellness-tourism.
Other cities close to the village are Moulins (30 minutes drive), Clermont-Ferrand (1 hour drive) and Lyon (2 hours drive).

The local restaurants provide a great evening withFrench delicacies. You will find several great restaurants between 2 and 15 km from our B&B in addition to those located in the city of Vichy
Aesthetic Medicine
An important part of our concept is wellness. Our focus and expertise are within the field of anti-aging treatments which includes aesthetic medicine using Botox and fillers.
Join us for perfect weekend in a quiet and discrete environment with good healthy food, champagnes, wines and some anti-aging treatments to highly competitive prices.
The anti-aging treatments will be executed by Head and Neck surgeon/otolaryngologist Dr. K.W Kross (MD, PhD) who is the co-owner of the château.
He is also the owner of Cabinet Kross at Policlinique Saint Odilon located in Moulins and in Saint-Gérand-le-Puy. He has several years of experience at various University hospitals.
Dr. Kross is originally from The Netherlands.
